Royal Family Kids Camp

Does one week make a difference?

One sunny morning on the Southern coast of Australia, a little boy discovered that hundreds of starfish had washed up on the beach and were dying in the sun....

Frantically, the boy began to grab the starfish and fling them back out to sea. A man jogging down the beach stopped to observe the boy in his seemingly futile exercise. There were far too many starfish to be saved.

"I understand what you're doing, son," the man said. "but do you really think it will make a difference?"

The boy looked up at the man, then down at the starfish in his own hand.

"I don't know, mister," he said.

"But I think it will for this one."

Why one week matters

Just like the boy on the beach, we may not be able to change everything in a child’s life, but we can change something. And for many children in foster care, that “something” becomes life changing.

A single week at Royal Family KIDS Camp gives a child seven days filled with safety, encouragement, joy, and unconditional love. For children who have lived through trauma, fear, or instability, this week is often the first time they feel truly safe.

One week can help a child begin to trust again.
One week can show them what healthy love looks like.
One week can spark hope that stays with them long after camp ends.
