Our Why

We exist to bring hope to children who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected.

Our Why at a Glance

The Need

Children in foster care face overwhelming challenges every day.
• Nearly 400,000 children are in foster care in the United States
• More than 5,700 children in Kansas are currently in out of home placement
• Many have experienced abuse, neglect, abandonment, or multiple home changes
• Most are removed from their homes because they are no longer safe

These children deserve stability, kindness, and hope.

The Reality

For many foster children, life is filled with uncertainty.
• Trauma affects how they see themselves and the world
• Trust is difficult when adults have caused harm
• Many have never experienced consistent encouragement or unconditional love
• Simple childhood experiences can feel out of reach

This is where we step in.

The Difference We Make

Royal Family KIDS Camp gives children a week that can change everything.
• A safe and joyful environment
• A two to one camper to counselor ratio
• Caring adults who show consistent love and support
• Fun activities, meaningful moments, and memories that last

For many children, this week becomes a turning point of healing and hope.

Why It Matters

Camp is more than a program. It is a place where children discover they are valued.
• Emotional wounds begin to heal in safe, loving environments
• Memories built at camp give strength long after the week is over
• Volunteers and donors help create moments that children carry for years
• Every act of generosity speaks hope into a child’s life

We believe every child deserves this kind of love and encouragement.

These children are the reason why Kids In Need, Inc. was established.
